About the Author
Margaret Marshall Saunders (1861–1947) was a Canadian author. Saunders was born in the village of Milton, Nova Scotia, though she spent most of her childhood in Berwick, Nova Scotia where her father was a Baptist minister. Saunders is most famous for her novel Beautiful Joe. It tells the true story of dog that has had a difficult puppyhood with many obstacles including a cruel owner. It is told from the dog's point of view. When the book was published in 1893, both the book and its subject received worldwide attention. It was the first Canadian book to sell over a million copies, and by the late 1930s had sold over seven million copies worldwide. In 1934, Saunders was made a Commander of the British Empire (C.B.E.), at the time her country's highest civilian honor. Together with fellow Canadian author, Lucy Maud Montgomery, Saunders co-founded the Maritime branch of the Canadian Women's Press Club. Following the success of Beautiful Joe, Saunders wrote more than twenty other stories, a number of which provided social commentary on such things as the abolition of child labor, slum clearance, and the improvement of playground facilities. Saunders died in 1947 in Toronto, Ontario where she had lived for a number of years.

This is the cover of the 1890s book -- a great book, and an important part of our history.

Something For The Kids: Sweet Apple TV's!

No, it's not an Apple TV, it's an Apple TV...

Really, would that not be the perfect TV for the kids' room??

Hannspree 28" 1080p Apple TV LCD HD Television

Product Description:
The things you furnish your home with are ideally the ones which positively contribute to the joy of being in that space.

With that in mind, we design our TVs to light up our rooms with colors and designs that reflect our personalities.

For the Apple TV, Hannspree has combined product innovation and "360-degree design" to create a new and incomparable classic: the apple-themed Full-HD LCD TV.

The perfect curves and stylish design of the HANNspree 28" apple-themed LCD TV shatters the idea that TVs do not enable distinctive design. The possibilities for stylish TVs exist, and the apple TV is proof.

When you look at the HANNS apple closely; the apple profile, the perfectly scaled proportions, and mirror red and white finish will win you over. The clever touches in every little detail will further add to the love affair that is the experience of owning a HANNspree TV.

The HANNS apple comes with market-leading specifications as well. Apart from 1080p Full HD high resolution, X-Contrast high-contrast technology, X-celerate super-fast response, perfectly proportioned widescreen design, removable base and wall-mount support, it offers the user a full range of connectivity options for HD/cable/free-to-air TV programming, Blu-Ray/DVD players, camcorders, VCRs, game consoles and computers.

Why end up with a black TV? The design and execution of the HANNS apple TV will improve the décor of any modern home or apartment. The design is also perfect for your nursery room or children's bedroom. I could see this going very well in the kitchen or greenhouse / grow room, too.

*Features include a 1920x1080 (1080p) native resolution, 10,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, 5ms response time, two HDMI inputs, and VGA, component, and other video inputs.
